This large antique Kilim was handwoven using 100% wool on the slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, ca. 1900. Local weaving tradition in the Shirvan region excelled in exploring numerous possible variations using a limited palette of color to maximal effect. Shirvans are generally more sophisticated than other antique rugs from the Caucasus. This large antique Shirvan Kilim reflects a warm color palette of persimmon, light browns, gold and ivory. The design and use of colors are impeccable. The condition of this piece is good. G21990000
